The Big Chill - December 11, 2010

The Big Chill is expected to be the largest crowd to ever attend a hockey game at any level. Demand for the outdoor game between Michigan State and Michigan has already generated sales of more than 100,000 tickets. It is scheduled to be played December 11, 2010 (3:00 PM ET) at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, MI.

  • World record for attendance at any hockey game - 77,803 - May 7, 2010 - Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Host Germany defeats USA, 2-1, in opening match of World Championships.
  • World record for attendance at outdoor hockey game - 74,554 - October 6, 2001 - Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, MI. Michigan State and Michigan skate to 3-3 tie in The Cold War.

TICKETS: MSU hockey season ticket holders will have the opportunity to order tickets to The Big Chill as part of their 2010-11 MSU hockey season ticket renewal application. Public ticket sales for The Big Chill were stopped in May 2010 at 100,000. The remaining tickets are being held to meet anticipated student demand. The general public may still request tickets by joining a waiting list (call 734-764-0247). If tickets become available, fans will be removed from the waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis. For more info, contact UM at 734-763-4423.
